The Horton Center summer camp in Gorham will be offering a Soccer Day Camp on July 23-27 at the town field in Jackson, NH. Open to all girls and boys entering grades 2-5, the camp will offer instruction in soccer skills, team play, and sportsmanship. Daily sessions will run from 9:30 – 11:30 Monday through Friday, culminating in Soccer Festival on the final day. The $95 fee includes a ball and tee shirt for each camper. Day campers in Jackson will be joined by overnight campers the same age from Horton Center.
Soccer Camp Director Rob Grabill has been coaching soccer on every level in New Hampshire for over 40 years. Currently the Varsity Coach of the perennial champion Hanover High School boys, Grabill emphasizes individual development. He will be assisted by college students who are former players from Hanover. All staff members meet the strict standard set by the American Camp Association.
Campers will learn and practice individual skills including ball control, dribbling, passing, shooting and defending. They will also learn team tactics, position play, rules of the game, and the importance of sportsmanship and team chemistry. Each player will receive an initial evaluation on the first day, individualized instruction, and a final report with goals for future developoment.
