Opening Work Days
May 25-28, 2017
Closing Work Days
October 12-15, 2017

Registration is required: You can come for the whole weekend or just Saturday, please let us know when you’re coming and how long you plan to stay. To be prepared for the work projects and food, all participants must be registered. These will not be ‘drop in’ events.  Email Rev. Leslie Chatfield lchatfield@nhcucc.org to register! (the weekend is no fee – donation only)

Background checks: are required for all participants 18 years old and older. Horton Center will absorb the cost of the background check, and will gladly take a donation to help with this cost.  The background check form can be downloaded here, then sent to 140 Sheep Davis Rd. Pembroke NH 03275.  Only one background check is needed for the entire summer, so if you sign up for more than one event, you only need to pay this fee once. Participants will also submit a Volunteer Disclosure Form.

Age restriction: We know that it would be great to travel with the whole family, but these will be serious work events and in order to keep everyone safe, youth must be in grade 7 or above.

Health Care: There is no nurse on duty during work weekends.  Adults are responsible for their own health care and for the care of the minors they bring with them. In the event of an emergency participants will be brought by ambulance or arranged ride to the Androscoggin Valley Hospital in Berlin, NH. Please be advised it is over a half an hour from Horton Center to the hospital.

Medications: During work events at Horton Center, adults may keep medications (prescription or non prescription) with their belongings. Adults should also keep medications of any minors they have brought with them. We ask that you be discreet and keep medications out of sight.

No alcohol, or illegal drugs: We know it seems obvious, but we want to be clear that these are alcohol and drug free events, as are all events at Horton Center. Don’t even have these in your vehicle.

Supervision: Individuals under 18 must be accompanied by an adult and must be supervised at all times. Adults may share in supervision responsibilities, but at least one adult must be present.

No adult is to be alone with a minorwith the exception of parents with their children. If you are with somebody else’s child, be sure there are at least three people present. This is for everyone’s safety.

Health Forms: are required for everyone. Individuals 15-17 years must have parents and doctor’s signatures. Adults will fill out an adult health form (no doctor’s signature required). Adult forms can be downloaded, or you can fill one out when you arrive at camp.

Donation: The weekend is free and we appreciate everyone’s help, but in order to pay for food, we are asking you to consider making a donation during your stay for Horton Center Work Days. We suggest $25 for weekends. Please, do what you can.
